2017 Minimum Wage for Industrial Sector in Jakarta

Minimum Wage 2017 industryRecently, PNB Law Firm provided a new legal business column for the investment website indonesia-investments.com. In the column we discuss the 2017 minimum wage for employees working in the industrial sector in Jakarta, which is set by Jakarta Governor’s Regulation no. 20 of 2017 regarding the Minimum Wages for the Industrial Sector (New Regulation). The scope of the New Regulation is only limited to a few industrial sectors as compared to the Governor’s regulation of the year 2016. The New Regulation only regulates the minimum wage for the following sectors:

  1. Chemicals, energy and mining;
  2. Metal work, electronics and machinery; and
  3. Pharmaceuticals

The industrial sectors which are no longer regulated under the new regulation will need to comply with the general minim wage as set in Governor Regulation number 227 of 2016.
